Staff of CRCO

Andy Ross

Andy has been canoeing and kayaking in Ontario and Alberta since he was a toddler. He discovered the amazing paddling of northern Saskatchewan several seasons ago, and fell in love with its warm water, secluded routes, and amazing fishing. Andy recently joined the CRCO team as a guide, and thoroughly enjoys sharing adventures and campfire stories with clients.

Guide/Instructor

Bob Tosh

Bob has spent his past few summers working at CRCO, having changed direction to live his northern Saskatchewan dream. When he is not needed for guiding trips or shuttling clients, he is most happy spending his time out on the water, or up at Forest House.

Guide

Chris Wall

Chris has been paddling in northern Saskatchewan for many years now, and is a very experienced paddler. Not only is Chris a highly skilled whitewater paddler, he is a skilled teacher and has an amazing ability to convey his lessons so that anyone at any skill level can feel confident by the end of their course!

Instructor

Clint Austin

Clint started helping out with trips in the summer of 2023, and is now making his way up from his cabin in Elk Ridge to guide and instruct more frequently. Clint is a fantastic guide with immense amounts of knowledge about paddling and canoe tripping. He is a very friendly guy and you are sure to have a good time paddling alongside him!

Guide/Instructor

Colin Frey

Colin Frey is the owner of Renewed by Nature, from which he offers a wide range of guided trips and instructional courses. Colin often ventures up from Regina to Missinipe throughout the summer to instruct CRCO whitewater courses, and is our regular guide for our Athabasca Sand Dunes trip!

Guide/Instructor

Erin Tosh

Erin has been working for Churchill River Canoe Outfitters for 6 years. She started working when she was only 15 years old, and has learned a great deal in her time here. Erin loves introducing new people to the wonders of northern Saskatchewan. In her time off she studies criminology and environmental resource management at Simon Fraser University.

Guide

Helena Blenkinsop

Although Helena is one of our younger guides, she has been paddling this area for many years, and has become a skilled paddler and fantastic guide. A canoe trip with Helena is guaranteed to be filled with smiles and laughter! In the off season, Helena is studying at Pearson United World College on Vancouver Island.

Guide

Jarrod Richards

Jarrod is the newest guide to CRCO, but don't let that fool you! Jarrod is a skilled paddler, who has spent many years paddling with the Saskatoon Canoe Club. He is also a great repair man, and spends much of his time working on vehicles, canoes, and other maintenance around the camp. You will often find him being followed by his gentle pup, Aurora.

Guide

Jenni Lessard

Jenni is the mastermind behind the food at CRCO. She spent countless hours carefully crafting a brand new, boreal-inspired menu to share with all our guided clients! Her role with us now is to keep the guides on track with food prep, supplying them with niche food items and answering any questions they may have to ensure the best quality meals you could ask for!

Consulting Chef

Layne Mckenzie

Layne has been guiding for Churchill River Canoe Outfitters for 5 years. He loves meeting new people from all around the world, and sharing his love for canoeing and the unique Saskatchewan wilderness. In the off season, Layne spends his winters as a ski patroller in BC.

Guide

Leon Charles

Leon is the go to man for motorboat shuttles. Him and his trusty jet boat can take you and your gear upstream in a jiffy. Spending most of his time as a bus driver in La Ronge, Leon is always around to lend a helping hand when we need him.

Jet Boat Driver

Marcia McKenzie

Marcia has recently joined the CRCO crew, but is by no means new to guiding, having worked for a number of different canoe guiding companies over the years. When she is not lecturing in Australia, Marcia is most often found in a canoe, and has spent much time paddling rivers in Saskatchewan, Ontario, and even Costa Rica!

Guide/Instructor

Martin and Heather Bernardin

Martin and Heather have been long time owners of Montreal River Outpost, based out of Air Ronge, and have now expanded north to Churchill River Canoe Outfitters. Keeping their children, Alex and Casey, busy as junior staff, they are working as a family to continue building the strong paddling community of northern Saskatchewan!

Owners

Ric Driediger

Ric owned Churchill River Canoe Outfitters between the years of 1987 and 2024, and those were a busy few years. Now in retirement, Ric has been spending some much needed time back in his canoe, or otherwise sitting in the office sharing stories over coffee or ice cream!

Previous Owner/Resident Storyteller

Spurgeon Root

Re-integration case worker by day, periodic CRCO guide and instructor by night, Spurgeon enjoys popping in and helping out with whatever is happening at CRCO. He enjoys seeing people gain skills and confidence in their paddling, and coaching beginners at the Whitewater Festival is always a highlight of his summer!
