Day 1

8:30 am Meet at the Churchill River Canoe Outfitters office in Missinpe

9:00 Drive to Devil Lake boat launch and paddle to Base Camp

11:00 Arrive at Barker Lake and set up Base Camp.

12:00 Lunch

1:00 pm Get on the water and start paddling!

6:00 pm Supper

Day 2

8:00 am Breakfast

9:30 On water sessions

12:00 Lunch

1:00pm On water sessions

6:00 pm Supper

Day 3:

8:00 am Breakfast - pack up camp

9:00 On water Sessions

1:00pm Lunch

2:00 Final session- paddle to Devil Lake

4:30 pm  Pick up at boat launch

The Intro Tandem course is best suited for those with previous canoeing  experience and are looking to up their whitewater game. If you've never paddled whitewater before, or you've got years of tripping experience under your belt, our Paddle Canada certified instructors will meet you wherever you're at and launch your skills to the next level. Whether you are looking for whitewater skills for canoe  tripping, or just want to "play", this course will put you on the right  path.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?

There  are no prerequisites for this course. Previous flat-water canoeing  experience is reccomended, but not required!  Good swimming skills are strongly reccomended- expect to get wet!

PRE-REQUISITE SKILLS

  • 2 sets of clothes to paddle in- synthetic or wool *No Cotton

  • Warm layers for in camp- fleece, down, polyester

  • Closed toed shoes for paddling

  • Sun Protection

  • Rain Gear

  • Water Bottle

  • Tent

  • Sleeping equipment- sleeping pad, sleeping bag

  • Group camping equipment- Group tarp, camp kitchen, cookware,water filtration,first aid etc.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

Our  intro course will focus on skills for Class I and II whitwater. We will spend most of our time on the water learning and practicing skills. This will be balanced with off-water theory sessions to give you a solid  understanding of how the river and your canoe work together, allowing  you to continue perfecting your skills after you leave the course.
