How To Get To This Trip
In the northwest corner of Saskatchewan, along the south shore of Lake Athabasca is a area unique to North America. The Athabasca Sand Dunes boasts the largest area of sand dunes in Canada and is one of the most northerly dunes in the world. The Dunes are also unique from an ecology perspective and have been studied extensively for the variety of plants that are endemic (only grow in one location in the world) to the dunes. We will hike and explore the "big dunes", the exhumed forest, and the William river which flows through the Sand Dunes.
