The Environmental Fireplace
The Environmental Fireplace in another Bill Mason original. He gave the idea to Ric Driediger at Horizons Unlimited and the idea became reality. In the past few years the original firebox has been again redesigned to make it even better.
This folding fireplace is ideal for the environmentally conscious canoeist. When the fireplace is placed on some rocks it will not leave a scar, even if your fire is situated in thick moss. When boiling a pot of water, the fireplace requires half the wood of an open fire. Because the heat is so much more contained, even damp or poor firewood will burn. For these reasons we call it the Environmental Fireplace. 
The Environmental Fireplace is light weight. It folds down and fits into a heavy envelope for easy transport.
The Environmental Fireplace is made with a false bottom, which helps to keep it from warping and keeps the bottom from burning through. The false bottom also helps in insulate the ground from fire.
